Caring for the dental health of the Dartford area and beyond!
  1. Covid-19 Update – 23rd March - 23rd March 2020 by 4drdc-logins

    Covid-19 Update – 23rd March

We would like to inform you that due to the COVID-19 outbreak we are currently unable to work as normal following the latest government guidelines.

We have taken the decision to cancel all routine examinations, treatments and hygiene appointments.

Please do not arrive at the practice unannounced.

We will be maintaining a telephone service for advice and booking emergency appointments. Please note, as the practice is closed, if we do need to see you in person this will be at our sister practice Crook Log Dental Practice in Bexleyheath.

    Dental emergencies include:
    • Severe pain for over 48 hours
    • Facial Swelling
    • Trauma or uncontrolled bleeding

We understand this is inconvenient and it may mean the treatment timelines are extended. We will be able to reconvene normal service once it is safe to do so.

If your appointment needs to be postponed, one of the team will be in touch.

Thank you for all your support during these uncertain times. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

    Best wishes
    Dartford Road Dental Centre

  2. Covid-19 Update - 20th March 2020 by 4drdc-logins

    Dear Patient,

Everyone is concerned about the developing situation with covid-19.

We would like to reassure you that, as always, we are here for you and shall continue to act to ensure the health and the safety of our patients and team. We remain dedicated to the prevention of cross infection and transmission of infections.

As dental professionals we are well versed in high levels of cross infection control, and the dental surgery is a very clean environment. There is hand sanitiser on the reception desk, and we ask each patient when they come in to sanitise their hands. All our treatment rooms are wiped down and sanitised between each patient as standard procedure.

As matters develop we will need to respond to changing advice, possibly on a daily basis. We will do our best to continue to provide care to those who need it. As part of this, we would ask any patient who has cold or flu like symptoms to cancel their appointment, follow government advice, and not attend till those symptoms are gone. You can get further advice on symptoms from the NHS website here.

Based on current guidance, in order to minimise risk, we are providing a skeleton service moving forward. We will be able to provide routine dental exams for healthy individuals and emergency treatments as standard. All non-essential treatment will be postponed for approximately 8-12 weeks. Patients with treatment deemed by the dentists as ‘essential’ may still be carried out, and you will be contacted directly in this case.

We are asking all our patients over the age of 70 or who are medically compromised to postpone their visit to the practice.

If you are self-isolating, or would just prefer to stay at home, and have dental concerns, we will be glad to arrange to have a discussion with you on the phone or via email. This won’t be able to deal with everything but we hope we may be able to provide reassurance in many situations.

We are also able to offer advice through our E-Consultation page on our website home page (www.drdc.co.uk). On here you can send us pictures of your mouth and we will get back to you as to whether you need to come in or not.

You will continue to get email reminders for your dental examination and hygiene visits. Please note, this is automated. We are currently booking in these appointments but in 8-12 weeks time so please give us a call or email us.

Your oral health matters, and now more than ever please ensure you are brushing your teeth twice daily, and cleaning in between your teeth. Keeping your mouth healthy is an important part of keeping the rest of you healthy.

The latest government guidance on Coronavirus can be found here : https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

    With Best Wishes,

The Dartford Road Dental Centre Team

  6. Keeping Cool In The Heat - 29th July 2019 by 4drdc-logins

In the scorching sun, it’s easy to grab the closest, coldest drink you can find, but do you know how much sugar is in your favourite drink…?

    blog-1

At Dartford Road Dental Centre, our team of Dentists and Hygienists pride themselves on educating the  people of Dartford on how to keep their teeth healthy in between their regular Dental visits at our Dartford based Dental Centre, this means ensuring that they know how to avoid constant sugar attacks on their teeth, by remembering the ‘sugar clock’.

Each time we have something containing sugar, the sugar combines with the plaque bacteria, creating an acid which attacks our teeth for an hour – every time!

So when we are regularly snacking on sugary foods and drinking sugary drinks in between our regular 3 meals a day, our teeth are frequently under attack.

We can limit the amount of acid in our mouths by:

    • Chewing sugar free gum after meals
    • Limiting sugary snacks to meal times only
    • Choosing sugar-free or ‘no added sugar’ snacks/drinks

  8. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY AND MEN’S HEALTH MONTH! - 12th June 2019 by 4drdc-logins

    fathers-day

Father’s Day and Men’s Health Month are both in June this year, where we give extra time to help the Dad we know and love to remember to care for themselves, as much as they care for their loved ones.

    What is Men’s Health Month?

Men’s Health Month, is celebrated across the country to raise awareness about health care for men and focus on encouraging boys, men and their families to practice healthy living decisions, such as exercising and eating healthy.

Our team at Dartford Road Dental Centre, hope to make your search easier this year!

So, the common question…what can I get Dad for Father’s Day?

How about the gift of good health? – By encouraging fathers in your life, to get an annual wellness check-up at their local health centre and regular dental examinations at Dartford Road Dental Centre.

    1. Talk to your dad about his oral health
    2. Schedule a dental check-up together at Dartford – Dad will more likely go, if he has someone to go with!
    3. You want him around for the long haul and good health includes a healthy mouth! So, encourage your dad to take care of himself.
    4. As well as a dental examination, an oral cancer screening is carried out. This will allow any issues to be detected early and addressed before they progress.

Finally, schedule tooth whitening treatment for him at Dartford, in time for Father’s Day!

    Why tooth whitening?

Ageing affects us all differently. One of the ways age can change a person’s appearance is with dull, discoloured teeth. Even if your dad doesn’t smoke, or drink coffee and red wine, his teeth can still give away his age, by how they’ve discoloured slowly over time.

    1. Tooth whitening treatment can make his smile look young and healthy
    2. He’ll look years younger!
    3. He’ll get an oral examination – to ensure his mouth is healthy, before his tooth whitening treatment begins

You will never be able to repay your dad for everything he’s done for you, but you can give him a brighter and healthier looking smile.

Please contact our Dartford Centre, at DA1 on 01322 223927 for more information.

  9. CONGRATULATIONS - 6th June 2019 by 4drdc-logins

Our team at Dartford Road Dental Centre, would like to congratulate our two dentists Dr Claire Culverwell and Dr Naeem Khaleel, on becoming Invisalign providers!

Orthodontics is becoming a more popular choice of treatment for patients, who want to achieve a beautiful straight smile. Metal braces are the traditional way of straightening teeth and is still used today. However, this day in age there are many orthodontic options to select from, which are much more comfortable and discreet.

    Invisalign-Logo

    invisalign-1

Invisalign can move your teeth to the desired position and improve your smile’s appearance using, clear, discreet aligners.

    Invisalign – removable appliance

Invisalign works by using a series of clear and comfortable aligners (clear brace) that no one will be able to tell you’re wearing. These aligners are created specifically for your teeth, with each set gradually moving your teeth into the desired position. Invisalign treats nearly all common dental problems, from under and overbites to overcrowded teeth.

Which Orthodontic treatment is best for you?

After an evaluation at Dartford Road Dental Centre, your dentist can determine which orthodontic option is right for you! Visit us at Dartford Road – DA1 today or call Dartford Road Dental Centre on 01322 223927 and move one step closer to your perfect smile!

  10. NATIONAL SMILE MONTH 2019 - 14th May 2019 by 4drdc-logins

    national smile month13th May – 13th June 2019

“A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.” – William Arthur Ward

National Smile Month started back in 1977, aimed to raise awareness of the importance of good Oral Hygiene and how it can improve your overall wellbeing. This event was such a success that it grew over the years to become National Smile Week, and subsequently National Smile Month in 2006!

This year Dartford Road Dental Centre are supporting National Smile Month campaign and want to raise awareness in our local community. Our Oral Health professionals will be visiting year 1 children in a local school to speak about all aspects of their oral health, including discussing sugary snacks Vs healthier alternatives and what to expect when they visit the Dentist.  We hope to motivate adults and children to get brushing and looking after their teeth as an investment in their future. So let’s begin by understanding National Smile Months three central messages.

This year National Smile Month’s key messages remain the same:

    1. Brush your teeth last thing at night and on at least one other occasion with a fluoride toothpaste

Brush for 2 minutes twice a day –  once you have finished brushing your teeth do not rinse your mouth with water, as this washes away all the goodness of fluoride – instead just spit the toothpaste out and let the fluoride in the toothpaste do its magic!

We must also remember the importance of interdental cleaning, such as dental floss. A study found that flossing loosens bacteria and food debris from between the teeth, which allows brushing to be much more effective at removing plaque – A major contributor to the formation of gum disease.

    1. Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks.

Every time you eat or drink anything sugary, your teeth are under acid attack for up to one hour. This is because the sugar will react with the bacteria in plaque (the sticky coating on your teeth) and produce the harmful acids. So it is important to keep sugary foods and beverages only to mealtimes, this will limit the amount of time your mouth is at risk.

It is advised to consume high in sugar beverages and food in moderation or even better to replace these with healthier alternatives.

    1. Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.

Visiting your dentist at least every 6 months reduces the chance of developing oral disease. Our dentists and hygienists at Dartford, will be able to recommend and provide you with important advice on brushing your teeth, spot any signs of tooth decay and look for signs of oral cancer.

Here at Dartford, we consider it our mission to help keep your smile looking brilliant!
